The Knightress by Lancerey The Knightress by Lancerey
I'm sick of looking at this, so it's done. Bam! I also don't know if I'm happy with it or not. I can't tell if I'm improving, backsliding, or stagnating and that's frustrating as all hell.

This isn't a character of mine. It was going to be something else, and then I changed it and turned it in to practice after I stopped working on it for a few weeks. Sometimes I just get so sick of painting something it becomes a forgotten psd on my desktop.
Good practice, lots of frustration.
Maybe I'll name her one day. Also hate the "lady knight" shit that's so common, so I think it's time to create a better term for a female knight. Knightress? Knightrix? Dunno.

Photoshop, bamboo tablet blah blah blah. Ticked the crit box because I just don't know what I'm doing with my drawing these days.

She so pretty and I love how her hair turned out. The armor looks dull and shiny, like it's been used a few times and not brand new. This looks good, like it was a portrait of someone.

I think they're called "lady knights" because the term you'd use for a knight would be "sir", like "Sir Elton John" (who was knighted by the Queen of England). There really isn't much of a female-version of "sir" except "lady". Lol.

The armour looks amazing! I would definitely say this is not a backslide so don't worry on that score. It is verrry nice indeed. The knightress has lots of personality that really comes across in the portrait. As for any improvement points, I can't help thinking there's something a little wrong with the face and I think I know what it might be: the mouth. It seems to be in a slightly strange position - but that might be part of her expression, but mainly it's because the lips are so shiny and high contrast compared to the rest. Given that the light source is very diffuse, they shouldn't shine like that but be a duller texture and also the colour seems too bright compared to the rest of the piece. Although, they are supposed to be a focal point, so maybe the intense colour is justified? The only other thing is that her neck needs more shadow so it looks like it's inside the armour rather than merging into it. Thats about all I can think of. I think it looks great. ^_^

I call them just knight - either male or female (or a paladin) :D Awesome job, always nice to see right-drawn plate mail

I absolutely adore this painting. I gotta say... she kind of reminds me of Flo, the Progressive girl. Cute as a button. I don't have any sort of criticism for it. I think it's perfect, to say the very least. Can't wait to see more from you, again!
